From a Gurung village to a garden hotel in Pokhara
Your perfect trip begins here. Twenty comfortable rooms around a flowering garden, five minutes' walk from Phewa Lake. Family-run in Pokhara since 1996.
Fyafulla! That's how we say “welcome” in Tamu, the Gurung language.
Our story · Since 1996In 1996, Jitu Gurung's cousin built The Silver Oaks Inn on a quiet lane in Lakeside and planted the garden guests still write about. Our family is Gurung, from a village in Lamjung near the start of the Annapurna Circuit, in the same hills many of our guests are about to walk through.
When the founder moved to the UK, Jitu, after twenty years in hospitality, took over with his sister, his brother and the wider family. Gurung people are known around the world as Gurkha soldiers. Here, we'd like to be known for something gentler: the way we look after you.
“You are always welcome here. We aim to make you feel at home away from home during your travels to Pokhara.”
Jitu Gurung, Managing Director
Step off Lakeside's busy street into flowering bushes, fruit trees, stone pavilions and strings of prayer flags. Guests call it a little oasis. We think it's the best seat in Pokhara for your morning coffee.

Fresh coffee or masala milk tea under the trees while the birds wake up and the town is still quiet.
Shady corners, the garden swing and a book from the lobby shelves. Rest your legs after the trail.
The pavilions glow, the prayer flags move in the breeze and there's a cold drink waiting.
All 20 rooms have a private bathroom with hot water around the clock, free Wi-Fi, TV and the comfortable beds trekkers keep writing about. Breakfast is included.
A bright double or twin room with a sitting corner. Ideal for a night or two before or after your trek.
More space, air-conditioning and a seating area by the window. Some deluxe rooms open onto a balcony.
Room for three, with a double and a single bed. Good for families and friends travelling together.

Nine short stops through Gurung life, from our home villages above the Marsyangdi to the garden in Lakeside. The story moves along by itself, and the sun rises over Annapurna as it goes. Swipe, drag or use the arrows to go at your own pace.
Stone-roofed villages on terraced hillsides, in the district where the Annapurna Circuit begins. Many of our guests walk past our home villages on their trek.
Gurungs call themselves Tamu, with a language of our own spoken alongside Nepali in villages across Lamjung, Kaski and beyond.
For more than two hundred years, Gurung men have served as Gurkha soldiers in the British and Indian armies, in Singapore and Brunei. Courage and loyalty are part of who we are.
In a Gurung village, young people traditionally met in the rodhi to sing, dance, share work and look after one another. It's the spirit we try to keep in our garden in the evenings.
Stone lanes, terraced fields and loads carried home on a strap across the forehead. Village life in the Annapurna foothills still follows the farming year.
Performed by young women in shining headdresses in the villages of Lamjung, Ghatu tells its story through slow song and dance in the weeks of spring.
Tamu Lhosar fills Pokhara with dancing, processions, feasts and family visits. If you're here for it, celebrate with us.
Festival dress means velvet blouses, woven shawls and heavy coral and gold necklaces, with the white bhangra men wear over one shoulder.
That's how we greet each other in Tamu. Come and stay, and we'll look after you the way we were raised to.

“I stayed at this hotel almost a decade ago and booked again for my recent Pokhara visit with family. The property is even better this time. Clean hotel, wonderful staff, central location, great value for money.”
Our golden retriever has a fan club of his own. He greets new arrivals, supervises breakfast and appears in more guest reviews than any of us.
“Don't let me even start about the dog, the sweetest thing ever. This hotel is a must to visit in Pokhara.”Dária C., Tripadvisor
